iHuman successfully held 2019 Science Day at Y building on January 22. This event was focused on scientific presentations from assistant professors and postdocs of iHuman institute, as well as the awards session and happy hour for a summary of the year 2018.
In the morning, 11 assistant professors from different laboratories of iHuman shared their research progress, covering a variety of research orientations including structural biology, computational biology, imaging, and chemistry. More than 160 people of iHuman attended the event. Subsequently, directors of iHuman cores reported the work of the previous year and further introduced the service facilities available in iHuman. Finally, the founding director - Raymond Stevens, executive director – Zhi-Jie Liu and assistant director – Guisheng Zhong jointly awarded multiple awards including “Students’ Choice Award”, “Excellent Contribution Award”, “Outstanding Student Award”, etc.
In the afternoon, nine postdocs reported their research results and answered questions from the audience. At the end of the event, Prof. Raymond Stevens made a concluding speech entitled “Make the World a Better Place”. He encouraged everyone to talk more, ask more questions, interact more, participate more and put forward iHuman 2019 Theme – “10X”. Next, Happy Hour was launched at the atrium of the third floor. The prizes were presented and a lucky draw was held. Science Day came to a close in a cheerful atmosphere.
As the annual academic event of iHuman Institute, Science Day gives people a chance to strengthen academic communication and cooperation, learn from the past and look into the future. It is expected that with the joint efforts of the whole iHuman, everyone will make greater progress in the new year!
