Congratulations to Professor Zhi-Jie Liu for his appointment as the first tenured Professor of ShanghaiTech University

January 31, 2018 - This noon, ShanghaiTech University (STU) held an awards ceremony to recognize tenured professor appointments, excellence in teaching and outstanding staff. All STU leadership, faculty and staff attended the big event. Most importantly, the event represented the first tenured professor appointment at STU. The ceremony was chaired by Provost and Vice-President Yin Jie and Vice-President Renchang Hua.

Vice-President Yin Jie introduced the system of tenured professors at STU. He announced that Professor Zhi-Jie Liu, from iHuman Institute, and Professor Xingxu Huang, from the School of Life Science and Technology, were promoted to tenured professor at STU. President Mianheng Jiang issued the tenured professors' appointments and expressed his congratulations. The two professors shared their experiences and insights at STU and encouraged other professors and researchers to continue their efforts to concentrate on teaching, research and service work.

At the meeting, Professor Zhi-Jie Liu gave a wonderful and inspiring speech. He noted three key words for STU: People, Culture and Spirit, which aroused applause from the audience.

Vice-President Renchang Hua issued a “2017 Excellent Teacher” award to Prof. Ray Stevens and other teachers from iHuman Institute and Yang Yue and other iHuman staff received the “2017 outstanding employees” award.
