About iHuman

The iHuman Institute at ShanghaiTech University is a highly recognized international research institution, dedicated to advancing basic science and drug discovery research on G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs). At iHuman, we promote interdisciplinary collaboration, cultivate the next generation of scientists and entrepreneurs, and accelerate the translation of scientific discoveries into clinical applications. iHuman brings together interdisciplinary research teams working in structural biology, molecular pharmacology, chemical biology, neurobiology, cell biology, computational biology and artificial intelligence, medicinal chemistry, and translational medicine. The Institute also hosts a suite of advanced core facilities, including the Cryo-Electron Tomography (cryo-ET) Center, which is under the leadership of Professor Wolfgang Baumeister—a pioneer in the development and application of cryo-electron tomography for structural biology—as well as platforms for high-throughput screening, super-resolution imaging, cryo-electron microscopy, biological mass spectrometry, nuclear magnetic resonance, and high-performance computing.

Position Description: 

We invite applications for tenure-track or tenured faculty positions at all academic ranks—Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor—in the following interdisciplinary areas:

Cryo-ET (including AI-based data analysis and Cryo-FIB/SEM volume imaging)

AI for drug discovery

Chemical Biology, Pharmacology, Cell Biology, and Neurobiology as applied to GPCR research

Candidates are expected to establish independent, internationally competitive research programs while actively contributing to the Institute's collaborative research environment. We particularly encourage applicants whose work bridges multiple disciplinary boundaries and leverages the Institute's core facilities.
