May 30, 2018 - It witnessed the foundation of the 12-member iHuman Student Leadership Board (iHSLB). Members come from different laboratories and consist of graduate students from grades 1 to 3.
iHSLB was established by Professor Stevens, the Founding Director of iHuman Institute. With strong support from iHuman leadership, iHSLB’s purpose is to: (1) create a better environment for iHuman family members to train in leadership skills; (2) help iHuman staff and students work and study more effectively; (3) improve efficiency of communication between laboratories and cores; and (4) make iHuman be a better place for everybody. This summer, iHSLB members will receive professional training from Professor Stevens in order to improve their leadership skills.
In the future, iHSLB will focus on three themes: learning leadership, iHuman cultural creation, and event hosting . Firstly, learning leadership will include hosting the English Corner and Journal Club at iHuman. Through the iHSLB organization, student volunteers will choose topics individually under the guidance of Prof. Garth Thompson, Prof. Fei Xu, and Dr. Yueming Xu. This will help students quickly adapt to the iHuman English learning system and enhance oral English communication. This will also help iHSLB members gain more experience in organizing and coordinating student affairs. Secondly, iHuman culture, co-organized by iHuman Happy Hour events with different research institutes and companies, will achieve the improvement of communication and provide chances to improve academic and cultural exchanges both inside and outside the institute. Finally, iHSLB will actively organize the annual iHuman team building activity and will take responsibility for optimizing the working environment and atmosphere for all members of iHuman. iHSLB will also help each iHuman graduate student by providing specific career planning training in the future.
“Stand out to be outstanding” is the iHSLB's Slogan. iHSLB's goal is to constantly pursue self-improvement. At the same time, we hope that under the assistance of iHSLB we can build a more outstanding iHuman.
