This facility provides critical electron microscopy facility service and GPU-based cluster resources for ShanghaiTech University. Additionally, the Cryo-Electron Microscopy Facility provides the technical support for single particle, electron tomography, and cell/tissue biology research.

At present, the facility houses five electron microscopes, including two low-end Talos 120C for negative staining, one medium Arctica (200kv) and two state-of-the-art high-end Titan Krios (300kv) with the most advanced direct electron detectors, phase plate and energy filter. The facility also provides related sample preparation instruments including: Light microscope fluorescent CorrSight; high pressure freezing; plunge freezing Vitrobot; freeze-substitution AFS; cryo-ultramicrotomy; and a plasma cleaning system. In addition, the facility has a set of high performance computer clusters for image data storage, processing and reconstruction, offering services to cover the entire Cryo-EM workflow.
