June 26, 2018 - Prof. Raymond C. Sevens is a world-leading scientist in structural biology, whose research focuses on structural and functional studies in G protein coupled receptor (GPCR) and drug discovery. He was selected as a member of “China’s 1000-Talents Program” and was appointed as the Founding Director of iHuman Institute at ShanghaiTech University in 2012. He has established the cutting edge GPCR structural biology technology platform at iHuman Institute in 2013, which helped iHuman Institute be the top research institute in this field.
Additionally, Prof. Stevens has been actively involved in recruiting the first-class research teams and has been deeply involved in the training of young talents. He also made great efforts by guiding their studies on GPCR structural biology, especially the targets related to critical diseases. Under his leadership, iHuman institute has achieved numbers of great scientific results. At the same time, he has published numerous high impact academic papers in top journals such as Science, Nature, and Cell, which helped iHuman Institute receiving extensive attention all over the world.
Given Prof. Stevens has spent long periods of time in China conducting scientific research and management , the Exit-Entry Administration Department of Shanghai Public Security Bureau issued him a Permanent Residence Permit of Aliens in China (“Green Card in China”) on June 26th, 2018. This Permanent Residence Permit of Aliens was sought by Prof. Stevens with the help and support of ShanghaiTech University. Prof. Stevens said that the Green Card will definitely make his entry and exit procedure in China much simpler and easier, and because of that, he can dedicate more time and effort to iHuman Institute.
Presently, the Permanent Residence Permit of Aliens in China enables foreign talents to have the same benefits as Chinese citizens when it comes to housing, banking, financial services, applying for driving license, and accommodation registration. While working in China, recipients can also benefit from medical insurance, housing fund, etc. The Permanent Residence Permit of Aliens in China provides convenience to foreign talents who work in China. With the support of this policy, we are looking forward to more foreign scientific talents joining the iHuman Institute at ShanghaiTech University.
